I did not enjoy this album at all, so Ill an easy cheap shot, by giving you, the reader a choice: Is this album actually 11 tracks of awful music that put me to sleep because its boring, or are the howling vocals of Josephine 11 things that do in fact keep me up at night. Its your choice! The problem here is that they are trying to be way too cutesy and ironic in these songs, and it does not work. At all. For the most part, its not singing; its screeching with occasional whining. To give you an idea of their sound, think a dumbed down White Stripes mixed with a heavy dose of the Ravonettes minus any of their charm. And thats basically the problem with most Indie music- lots of screeching, lots of thinking they're cute, zero charm, and minimal talent. Every once in a while a group pulls it off: Belle and Sebastian, Feist, Regina Spektor - they pull it off. I list them just to point out Im not completely against anything labeled Indie. A Hundred Things Keep Me Up At Night isnt 100% awful
